Google Pixel And Pixel XL: Read My Text Messages

There is a feature on the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL that allows the user to have the device quickly read their last text message out loud. It is a simple process that many users of the phone will want to use. Many other phones might appear to have the same capability, but they would need third- party apps to do it. The Pixel and Pixel XL have this feature built in.

You can have the phone read books out loud, process translations, among a wide variety of other texts. If you don’t yet know how to use the feature, you can follow these steps on how to set up your Pixel or Pixel XL to read notifications and actions out loud.

  1. Switch on the device.
  2. Start at the home screen.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Find and select System.
  5. Go to Language & Input.
  6. Find the Speech section.
  7. Select Text-to-speech
  8. Select the TTS engine, it should be called: “Google text-to-speech engine”.
  9. Next to the search engine, tap the Settings icon.
  10. Tap Install Voice Data.
  11. Download it.
  12. It may take a few minutes.
  13. Press the Back key.
  14. Choose the Language.

When you have completed these steps on your Pixel or Pixel XL, you then need to do the following:

  1. Start at the home screen.
  2. Go to Apps.
