When you surf the web from your PC, do you have this habit of saving favorite pages for later use? Is your bookmark bar filled with such tabs or have you already come to the stage where you actually need to create folders to better organize your bookmarks? If that’s the case, you probably feel the same need when you navigate online from a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus. Fast and cool smartphones, by the way, they will get you from one page to another so rapidly that it will be a real pleasure.
So, the next best thing to it is learning how to add bookmarks to the Home screen of your smartphone. That’s right, you can add a shortcut of your internet browser, on whatever Home screen panel you want. And whenever you tap on it, the icon should open you the internet browser with the website whose URL is associated with it.
Instead of having to launch the internet browser and manually typing in the URL of the website you want to visit, now you can bookmark the website straight on your screen and open it up almost instantly.
Our tutorial for today will teach you how to do just that when using the stock Internet app of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus. But the truth is that it should be just as simple and intuitive – perhaps with a couple of minor differences – even when you’re using it for other browsers. The bookmark, no matter from what browser was created from, will act like an app in itself and bring up whatever page you have previously bookmarked for it.
Here are the detailed steps of how to do so, as mentioned, with the default Internet browser of the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus:
- Launch the Internet app and access your favorite website;
- Tap on the 3-dots menu from the right corner of the address bar, to access the menu;
- Tap on “Add shortcut to Home screen”.
And that was it. Leaving the browser and returning to the Home screen, the shortcut should be already there, as an individual icon. If, for instance, you would want to do this from the Chrome browser, on a Samsung Galaxy S8 or even a Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus, like mentioned, the steps would be pretty much the same: launching the browser, loading the web page, accessing the menu. This time, the option will be slightly different, though, it will be more than obvious to you, from the very beginning, that you have to select “Add to Home screen”.
Now, depending on the manufacturer of your device, you might be allowed to long-press any empty space of the Home screen, to access the Options window and tap on the “Add to Home screen” option available under the Widgets section. Any previously bookmarked page within the browser will appear as a widget here and you can add it to the Home screen from here. The above method, however, is the easiest way to bookmark a page on the Home screen of your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus directly from the browser.
