Those that own the Nokia 8 might be a little frustrated that when you first purchased the device that it came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and not Android 8.0 Oreo. Especially since the new flagship smartphone from Nokia was introduced back in August, then being released a few months ago in September and has so many wonderful features.
But there’s some good news that was recently announced from HMD’s CPO Sarvikas saying that Android 8.0 Oreo is coming to the Nokia 8 now over a tweet. Sarvikas mentioned that users around the world should expect to get the new Android 8.0 update within a week. The overall file size for this update should be roughly 1.5 GB or 1518.1 MB to be exact. It’ll also include the security update from Android that was released in November.
New Features On Android 8.0 Oreo
Some great features that help improve the Nokia 8 is that it improves battery life and quicker boot times. Other things also include notification dots, and picture-in-picture. Security improvements have also been made in the area of Google’s Autofill API that was said to have possible vulnerabilities.
The way that the update will work is that you’ll get a notification on your phone when it’s available in your area and then it’ll start the process so you can have all the new features of Android 8.0 Oreo on your Nokia 8.
Nokia 6 And Nokia 5 Getting Android 8.0 Oreo Soon
For those with a Nokia 6 or Nokia 5, there’s also good news for you as well. These devices will also be getting an Android 8.0 update. First beta testing is going to be released and then later an official public release will become available.
The exact release date of Android 8.0 Oreo to the public for those with the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 is still unknown, but it should be expected to become available some time in early 2018. Followed by this should be a release of Android 8.0 Oreo to Nokia 2 and Nokia 3.
