In case you didn’t know how to call that thing that keeps displaying pieces of your incoming messages on the Lock Screen or within the Status Bar, now you know it. And yes, the Preview Message feature, active by default on any OnePlus 5 smartphone, can be deactivated with a few simple steps.
If you want, you can make those annoying notifications go away. You can block it for the Lock Screen alone, for the Status Bar alone, or for both locations.
Depending on what you’ve selected, the content of your incoming texts will remain private. You will no longer have to worry that the people around you, family or co-workers, will see who texted you and what message you got. Sure, the preview is small enough to make it difficult for the nosy people to read it from a distance. But if it makes you feel more comfortable, here is what you should do:
Discover your OnePlus 5 Message Preview Control Options
- Access the settings of the Messages App;
- Go to the Main Menu;
- Select the Settings icon;
- Navigate to Applications;
- Tap on Messages;
- Select the Notifications submenu;
- Go to Preview Message;
- Identify the two main options;
- Lock Screen;
- Status Bar;
- Check or uncheck the boxes where you want/don’t want to see the Message Preview.
It goes without saying that if you don’t want any kind of message previews, you’ll have to uncheck the boxes for both options. That way, you can be sure that the messages you receive on the OnePlus 5 smartphone will remain private. The sensitive information or the messages you want to keep away from the prying eyes will be protected.
