They call it the notification bar, the pull-down bar, or the notification drawer, but it does a lot more to your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus than to simply display notifications. It is also the place from where you can get quick access to important features like the Wi-Fi connectivity or the Bluetooth. If you’d like to know more about what you can do with it and what are the options you can personalize about it, read on and you might turn your smartphone into an even more accessible, handy tool.
To make you just a short introduction, the pull-down bar is easy to activate by… pulling it down, obviously, with the swipe of one finger. When do you so, you gain access to a series of settings with dedicated toggles and, on some carriers, you also benefit from a permanent slider for the display’s brightness control.
Nevertheless, when you swipe the notification bar downward using two fingers instead of just one, you access an extended window called the Quick Settings menu. That’s where all the great things can happen if you know how to edit and personalize the displayed options. And if you don’t know, you’re about to find out.
To customize the Notification Bar on Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Plus…
- Access the Quick Settings section as suggested above – pull downward with two fingers or use just one finger and then tap on the top-right square icon;
- At the top of the display, in the newly opened Quick Settings section, tap on the Pencil icon;
- From there, access the Notification Panel edit settings – its location might vary depending on your carrier;
- Once in there, feel free to adjust the screen brightness from the dedicated slider and to configure all the quick settings buttons you need – press and hold a toggle to remove it, drag and drop it anywhere once it’s highlighted.
When you’re done, the Notification Bar of your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus should display your recently selected toggles and settings shortcuts, in the order that you have chosen.
