The basic function of making and receiving calls is something that should work impeccably on any iPhone. There’s really no point in having the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max or iPhone Xr and all the amazing features that come with it if people cannot reach out to you. Of course, there’s also the necessity of being able to make calls yourself, that’s why you bought a phone in the first place.
Now, many problems reported in this area can go both ways. If you cannot receive calls on iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max or iPhone Xr, most likely you cannot make calls either. The first reasons we can think of would have to do with…

You know it too well that, when a temporary outage is involved, you cannot do anything on your own. The only way to ease your frustration is to actually confirm with the provider of cellular service. They should be able to tell you if and why they’re out of service or how long is it going to take until they will fix the situation.
The same goes for the account status changes – if that’s really the case, a phone call is all you need to sort things out. And whatever you hear on this occasion, you probably shouldn’t take it very personally. At least not until you are proved that you haven’t forgotten to pay the last bill and that’s why they’ve cut your service… Otherwise, mistakes can happen, even with Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile or any other carrier.

You see, this bad signal problem can be of two different kinds. One of them is when you are really having bad signal from the wireless tower. It’s a matter of coverage and infrastructure and where you actually are, at a given time. This is obviously a temporary problem that can be fixed by moving into a different area, where you have better coverage and your signal will get back to normal.
But that isn’t the kind of problem we are going to talk about. We mean the second kind, the one where you’re in an area with full signal, where you’ve always had signal, but your iPhone X or iPhone 10 suddenly started to have a signal problem. In that particular case, we recommend you to find out how to reboot the iPhone and monitor the evolution of the problem. This happens, as already mentioned in the beginning of this tutorial, when the Airplane Mode was turned on. So, before you rush into our previous suggestions – hard reset or servicing – make one final check. Go to the quick settings menu and see if the Airplane Mode is turned On or Off. If it’s enabled, you must disable it and, hopefully, your problem will be gone.
If you’ve ruled out even the Airplane Mode possibility, you can only fix the can’t make calls problem of iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xs or iPhone Xr at an authorized center.
