How To Enable Magnifier On iPhone 8/8 Plus, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr

Just like with many other tiny features of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max or iPhone Xr, you don’t get to appreciate the magnifier until you need to use it. When the need comes into play, you are all of a sudden curious to know more about this option. We really hope that you’re not in big need right now, maybe just curious to know your options before you are forced to use it.

The magnifier lets you make everything bigger and look at it through the camera app. Basically, you use the camera lens to increase the size and the camera app to look at those things pretty much like you’d look into a newspaper or an extended menu. But that’s not all because this feature comes with its special enhanced options and you will want to know all about it.


The most important thing – how to enable magnifier on iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus:

  1. Turn on the iPhone;
  2. Go to the Settings app;
  3. Select Acessibility, from under the General tab;
  4. Select the Magnifier option and switch its toggle to On.


The second most important thing – how to turn on magnifier on iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus

Just because you’ve enabled it you obviously won’t be looking at everything magnified. To turn the feature on, you must:

  1. Unlock the device;
  2. Triple press on the Home button.


Bear in mind these two essential steps. Pretty much everything we will present you below will imply turning on the magnifier before the other steps. So, to avoid constant repetition, you should know what to think of when you read “turn on the magnifier”.

  1. Turn on the magnifier;
  2. You’ll see a slider that you must tap and hold – to modify the magnification level drag it left or right;
  3. This will increase or decrease the power of magnification and you’ll be able to settle for a specific zoom level.


Enable the auto-brightness:

  1. Go to the General tab under the Settings app;
  2. Select Accessibility and then, Magnifier;
  3. Switch the toggle next to the Auto-Brightness feature to On.

  1. Turn on the magnifier;
  2. Identify the Freeze Frame button, located at the bottom of the display, and tap on it;
  3. Juggle with the magnification slider to set your preferred zoom;
  4. Tap on Freeze Frame when you’re ready to take the screenshot.


Adjust brightness & contrast:

  1. Turn on the magnifier;
  2. Tap the three-circle icon from the bottom of the screen, the symbol for the Filters option;
  3. Use the magnification slider by tapping and dragging it side to side, until you get the desired contrast and brightness, as seen on the screen.


Invest colors & filters:

  1. Turn the magnifier on for one more time;
  2. Select the same Filters option (the three circles mixed together icon);
  3. Select the Invest Filters option (the two curved arrows pointing towards a box).
