Just like you get to see the phone number or even the name of your caller on the display of the iPhone 8, the people you call will see your number by default. That’s because all Apple devices, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus included, have a special feature “Show My Caller ID” active by default.
Now, do you want to hide your number when making calls and surprise the person who will take that call without knowing that it’s you? All you have to do is to change the status of the Show My Caller ID.
It’s your decision to make and you probably have your reasons. Whether you’re calling for personal or for business purposes and you have reasons to keep your number hidden, here is what you need to do:
If you want to hide your number when making calls with the iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus…
- Turn it on and go straight to the Settings app;
- Browse and select the Phone entry;
- Tap the “Show My Caller ID” option;
- Switch its dedicated toggle to Off and leave the menus.
Once you’ve taken these steps, all your calls will have a hidden number. This means that the person you’re trying to reach out to will not be able to see on the display your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus number, but only a pop-up notification with the title “Blocked” or “Unknown”. To deactivate this feature, you will have to retake all the steps described above and switch that toggle to On so that the device will start to show your caller ID once again.
