Before popping the big question – Why doesn’t my Apple iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus screen rotate? – ask yourself if the screen rotate feature is really turned on!
- Swipe up from the bottom of your Home Screen, to extend the menu;
- Look at the top right corner and identify the Lock icon;
- Check its status and, if it appears to be turned On, try to change the orientation of the screen and see if anything moves.
Assuming you’ve accessed the settings and made sure the icon of this option is active, you still need to check if the accelerometer is working. And how about the camera app, have you recently launched it?
Before you accuse us of asking strange questions, let us tell you the following fact. More often than not, when the screen rotate function is on but the screen is stuck at vertical, you will also notice a malfunction of the accelerometer. And your camera app will most likely show all the images and all of its menus and buttons upside down!
As you can see, we know what we are talking about. That’s because we’ve already encountered this issue all too many times. The good news is that we have some answers ready to offer you!
Here’s how you can fix the screen won’t rotate problem on iPhone 8:
Most experienced users would suggest you to hard reset your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus. As much as you hate this option, you might still have to take it into account. But, for now, there is hope: try to access the service screen, instead.
Some carriers disable this option, leaving you in the impossible situation of loading the service screen and performing a self-test in there. Though it looks like you’re getting closer and closer to the factory defaults solution, give your service provider a call. It cannot hurt to ask if they happen to have any solution for the screen rotation problem…
If they don’t, refrain from hitting your smartphone. Frustration or just the silly hope that this might actually make it work back (as some people are discussing online), the gesture is absurd. You cannot possibly expect for the iPhone 8 smartphone to work better after you hit it, so, forget this out-of-the-box suggestion and read this guide instead!
Now that you have familiarized yourself with the steps involved in the reset process, you’re only left to handle the backup. Navigate to Settings and take care of this last thing from under the Backup & Reset option. If you still have the feeling that you are unprepared, check our guide here on how to take care of the hard reset.
Your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus screen rotate issue is about to be fixed. Back things up and use the reset option!
