The Predictive Text is a setting that the iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR smartphones bring with their stock keyboards. Their purpose is more or less obvious – they learn how to predict what you want to type and automatically do it for you. Instead of literally typing a full word, you use the first letters, the feature uses the entire context and your typing history, and it makes a documented guess.
How suitable that guess is will vary from one user to another. That’s why you will see some people super-excited about it and other people disappointed with it. If you are just curious, because you didn’t have the chance to test it, you’re right. Try it and see for yourself!
The Predictive Text on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and iPhone X are available as it follows:
- Unlock the screen of the device and go to the Settings section;
- At the General tab, find your Keyboard settings;
- Under the Keyboard options, identify the Predictive Text feature;
- Its status is probably now set to Off so, if you tap on it once, it will switch to On.
Now you can leave the Keyboard settings immediately or spend a little more time and learn a few more useful things. The Predictive Text is only one of those smart typing features that the Keyboard can offer you. There’s also a text correction tool listed in there, a personal dictionary that can be edited to block certain corrections, and some other stuff.
You’ve turned on the Predictive Text on iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, but don’t stop there. Take your typing experience to the next level, by making the most of what you have!
