The simple fact that, whenever you receive a message, your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus displays a preview of it right on the Lock Screen can be a useful thing. On one hand, you get to see who contacted you. You can also get a clue on the subject and the importance of the message, judging by that preview and how the message starts. But most importantly, you can use that preview to access the Messages app almost instantly.
When you do the latter, your iPhone will switch from the Lock Screen straight to the texting app. Without you even having to bother with using the password, the passcode, the fingerprint or who knows what unlock option you have in place.
Some Apple users don’t like it and they often argue that it can mess with their privacy. Are you in a crowded place where there’s no way you hold the iPhone without at least one person being able to stare at its display? Then you might not want your message previews to pop up on the Lock Screen. Otherwise, there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want to use this shortcut.
To turn On the Quick Reply Message feature of the iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus…
- Turn on the iPhone, first;
- Launch that Settings app from the icon located on the Home Screen;
- Go to Touch ID & Passcode;
- Identify the Reply with Message feature;
- Switch it to On and leave the settings.
Now, all you have to do is to wait for the first message. Once it arrives, if your iPhone is locked, you’ll be able to see it and access the entire message from the Lock Screen. And just in case you were concerned, to handle the status of the Quick Reply Message option of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, you’ll simply have to retake the above steps. Switch it back to Off when you’ve had enough of it!
