If you’ve recently bought an iPhone 8 Plus or an iPhone 8, you are going to need some time until you will fully grasp its options. Setting new ringtones is a part of the process but, eventually, you will notice that some iPhones have ringtones that you couldn’t find in your list of pre-defined options. And it’s understandable that you want to know if or how you can benefit from such things as well.
A short intro to your free ringtone downloads for iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
In this chapter, you have 3 main options to juggle with. One is already well-known as the list of default available ringtones. You can surf through it and see if you like anything, but don’t just settle for it.
The second involves paying for music through the Apple Music or iTunes services. If you’d like to try that one out, you’re free to do so. But wouldn’t you like to know that you can get free ringtones for your iPhone?
The third one will probably interest you most but don’t just rush into details. For starters, keep in mind that your custom ringtones cannot have more than 30 seconds from the beginning until the end. Still, you have the freedom to choose where to start from, so that you will be able to avoid the beginning of the song and move on straight to the most powerful part.
Aside from editing the ringtone sequence, you will also have to turn it into an AAC file on iTunes, sync your smartphone with it and then follow a series of other steps to actually set the newly downloaded ringtone. And just to make it even more challenging, remember that what you are about to learn must be applied, individually, for every single contact whose ringtone you want to personalize. While you make up your mind for what songs you want to use, let us show you the steps.
To download your free ringtones on the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus…
- Launch the iTunes (latest version, mandatory!) and select your song;
- Right-click on it to access the menu;
- First, select Get Info and set up the stop and the start times;
- Second, select Create AAC Version and copy the newly created file;
- Delete the original, old file;
- Change the extension of your ringtone – make that .m4a an .m4r extension;
- And add the file to iTunes, without forgetting about the sync part;
- To set the ringtone, go to Settings, Sounds, Ringtone, and tap on this song.
As mentioned, this was just an introduction on how to download free ringtones for iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8. Go on and download even more free ringtones, to set them on different contacts, for incoming calls and text messages as well!
