All iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices are set, by default, with the Show Caller ID feature turned on. This is what makes you see the phone number of the person who is calling you, because their phone is set to display this so-called Caller ID. And that’s how other people are able to tell that you are calling them – you too have the Caller ID turned on.
What happens when you turn it off is something that you probably know. If you’re here to get the actual steps required for disabling this default option, we’ll get there in a few seconds. Our advice, however, is to refrain from using it.
Many would ignore calls with a hidden number. When they see Blocked or Unknown on the screen, they don’t answer. That’s because too many people are making pranks these days and even more telemarketers are making abusive calls. Even if you’re looking for a business call and not wanting to share your phone number so it won’t end up on a spam list, it still isn’t a very good idea. But, in the end, the call is all yours.
Long story short, you can hide your Caller ID on iPhone 8…
- If you turn on the device and go to Settings;
- In there, select the Phone app;
- Find that option that says Show My Caller ID;
- Select it and change the status of its dedicated switch to Off.
That’s how you hide, block, or turn into an unknown information your caller ID. Try to make a test call and you will see that, on the screen of the person you’re calling from the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, the only visible information will be an “Unknown” or “Blocked” label. Just remember that this is a general setting that will remain active for all your calls for as long as Show My Caller ID option is turned off!
