Texting Problem On iPhone 8 And iPhone 8 Plus (Solved)

Texting is one of the most straightforward services on any smartphone. Now, as you probably know, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices come up with an extra texting service, the famous iMessage. With its help, you can send messages to any other Apple user, not just to an iPhone, but also to an iPad or whatever, and communicate effectively and free! As opposed to the standard SMS service – which, by the way, is also available – the iMessage doesn’t come with any fees.

What it comes with, however, is… some occasional problems. With these devices, whenever we hear about texting issues, it’s one way or another related to iMessage. Specifically, people complain of two common problems:

  1. One is when you cannot get the texts or the SMS from other iPhone users;
  2. The other one is when you cannot send texts or SMS to people who don’t use an iPhone but rather an Android, a Windows Phone, a Blackberry etc.

Now, you can probably tell by our introduction from above alone that the cause is precisely the iMessage. If you changed the SIM card from another iPhone (where you’ve been using the iMessage) to your new iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, there’s no wonder you’re encountering these issues. Most likely, you didn’t deactivate the iMessage on that old device before changing the SIM card. And now, all the messages that you are trying to send or to receive are revolving around that active but inaccessible iMessage service.

So, let us give you some good news…

If you want to fix the iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus can’t receive messages problem:

You must access the settings of your iPhone, starting from Messages, and going to the Send & Receive tab. Select the option that says “Use your Apple ID for iMessage” and, after that, use your actual Apple ID to access the iMessage.

Once you’re there, you can easily verify the current settings of the iMessage. Look for the option that says “You Can Be Reached By iMessage At” and see what phone number and Apple ID you have listed underneath it.

After you conclude that all the information from the above step is accurate, return to the other iOS device, again, to Settings, the Message tab, the Send & Receive option. And after this final stage, expect for your iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to receive and send text messages without any problems!
