You knew that your iPhone or iPad in iOS 11 and iOS 12 had the lock screen protection activated. To your surprise, the first time you got a text message, you discovered that you can launch the app and quickly reply to it, right from the locked screen. This is something that some users would appreciate.
But those who took the time to set up a passcode, a password, or even their Touch ID just so they can be sure that no unauthorized person can get to their private information, won’t like it. And it’s obvious why, since it lets anyone, whether he or she knows your unlock code or not, to get access to an incoming message.
What’s not so obvious is that you aren’t forced to cope with this quick reply messaging feature on iPhone or iPad in iOS 12 and iOS 11. More on how you can easily turn it on or off, upon your preferences, will be presented below:
To access the Quick Reply Messaging setting on iOS 12 and iOS 11:
- Turn on the device;
- Go to the Home screen;
- Swipe to access the Settings menu;
- Navigate to the Touch ID & Passcode option;
- Find the Reply with Message option.
Reply with Message is the feature that empowers you and anyone else who uses your iPhone or iPad in iOS 11 or iOS 12 to skip any security measure and read your message, then even reply to it if they want so.
Just like many other options, you can turn it On or Off with a simple tap that automatically changes its status. For extra protection, bear in mind that you also have the option labeled as Message Previews. If you turn that one Off, no one will be able to tell what’s happening behind the locked screen of your Apple device.
