If you’re getting ready to use your iPhone or iPad in iOS 11 as a flashlight, don’t get too excited. The Torch widget will work well, but, for sure, it is nothing like the LED Maglight or any other standard lantern you have in mind. Still, for a source of light when you are in the dark, the flashlight feature will prove more than useful.
The only thing left is for you to learn how to turn it on, without groping your way to it right when you have an emergency and you need light fast. One thing we can tell you right now is that this is a built-in feature, so save the searching in the Apple Store for later. This one is already sitting on your iPhone or iPad in iOS 11. And when you finish reading this article, you will know exactly how to turn it on and off.
To use the Flashlight on your iPhone or iPad, you first have to activate it:
- Unlock the screen;
- Access the general menu, with one swipe upward, from the bottom of the display;
- Look for the Flashlight icon, somewhere at the lower left corner;
- Tap on that icon to turn it on.
As you will notice right after that, the camera flashlight will activate and you will be able to use the device as a source of light. As long as the feature is turned On, you also have an indicator in the Notification shade. You can always open up that notification shade and select to turn it Off when you’re done.
Alternatively, you can repeat the steps mentioned above. When you find the Flashlight icon, tap on it once again. It will change its status from On to Off or the other way around. Now we have hopefully made it clear how to use the flashlight on any Apple iPhone or iPad running in iOS 11.
