Swatch Company Making A Smartwatch Like Apple Watch

Based on new reports, the Swatch company is looking to make a smartwatch similar to the Apple Watch. Swatch is a large watch manufacturer from Switzerland and based on a report from Reuters, it’s looking to improve the smart watch experience with creating a smartwatch with a better battery life. It’s been said that the company thinks that they can create a battery on the smartwatch that will last much longer than the Apple Watch. Currently the average length of life for an Apple Watch battery is about 18 hours and many still need to recharge their battery daily.

The Swatch group has told the Swiss weekly Handelszeitung that it plans on making a revolutionary battery technology that would be for both small swatches and even for the likes of automobiles.

WHOEVER BRINGS A BATTERY FOR A SMARTWATCH TO THE MARKET THAT YOU DON’T NEED TO CHARGE FOR SIX MONTHS HAS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE,” SWATCH CEO NICK HAYEK SAID. “WE’RE WORKING INTENSIVELY ON THIS PROBLEM WITH OUR RESEARCH GROUP BELENOS AND BATTERY PRODUCER RENATA. NEXT YEAR WE WILL COME TO THE MARKET WITH A REVOLUTIONARY BATTERY, NOT ONLY FOR WATCHES BUT ALSO FOR AUTOMOBILES.

We still don’t know much about when Swatch will release this new smartwatch or its new battery technology, but it has been said to be sometime in the near future. All we know is that it’ll be small and last much longer than the Apple Watch battery.
