Wondering why did we start with the app cache? Well, it depends on the nature of your problem. Is it only one app that is causing the device to freeze? Or it happens with different apps? If it’s just one or two, there’s no point in erasing the system cache. You first tackle the app cache and only then, if the problem persists, you move on dealing with the system.


To clear the app cache on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the device;
  2. Access the settings menu;
  3. Go to the App Manager;
  4. Tap on the app that has been causing you problems;
  5. Identify the app info screen of that particular app;
  6. Tap on Clear Cache.

How to clear system cache on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus

The process is often referred to as “clearing the cache partition” or “performing a system cache wipe”. As opposed to clearing the app cache, this one will require to turn off the device and simply rely on the hardware keys:

  1. Turn off the device;
  2. Get the phone into Recovery Mode;
  3. When the Android logo appears on the screen and the device vibrates, let go of the Power button;
  4. Continue to simultaneously hold the Volume Up and the Home buttons;
  5. From the volume buttons navigate through the menu until you get to highlight the option Wipe Cache Partition;
  6. Use the Power button to activate the option;
  7. From the suggested options scroll down until you hit the Yes;
  8. Send the command by pressing the Power button;
  9. Scroll down again, until you hit the Reboot System Now function;
  10. Send the command by pressing the Power button;
  11. Wait for the device to reboot with a clear system cache.


Check if the problem persists. It shouldn’t, but if you aren’t that lucky, consider the more invasive method we have initially mentioned – the factory reset.
