Everybody loves Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus, among many other things, for their fast charging option. But what do you do when not even the regular charging is working properly?
A broken charging port can only be tackled in one of the following two ways: you either replace it yourself, or you take it to an authorized service to get it repaired by a technician. Before you resort to the latter, read this guide and make your life easier:
How to clean the charging port of a Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Plus
A professional will always get it done, but it will cost you money and time. Why pay all that before you make sure that you’re not actually looking at a clogged port? Lint or debris can easily get stuck in there, thus blocking the connection of the device with the charging cable. In case you never thought about it, keep in mind that even the smallest traces of dust stuck in there might prevent the device from charging.
So, before anything else, you need to learn how to properly clean your port and avoid such instances in the future.
You will need:
- Double-sided tape;
- A needle;
- A cotton swab;
- Some compressed air.
You will have to try, in this particular order, to:
- Place some double-sided tape around a needle and insert it into the charging port – move it side to side so that any lint or dust from there will stick to the tape;
- Use a cotton swab and gently insert it into the port, moving it, again, side to side, to remove any other residue;
- If none of the above worked, use some compressed air to blow out whatever is stuck in there.
The only alternative left, before you take your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus to an authorized service, is to proceed with the manual repair on your own. YouTube is filled with such visual guides and it wouldn’t hurt to learn a few things from there!
