The Always-On Display feature of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the alternative to the much-coveted Double Tap to Wake function. You know, that cool feature that was supposed to turn your smartphone’s display on and off every time you tapped on it twice and that Samsung refused to introduce on its latest flagship.
With the alternative provided by the manufacturer, you can configure the smartphone to constantly keep a series of details displayed on the black screen, when you’re not using the device. That information, however, will constantly change its position on the display, for the obvious reason of preventing an eventual display burnout.
Do you find this constant movement tiring? Or you’re worried about the battery consumption? Though you don’t really have reasons for the latter, you can disable the Always-On Display anytime you want, through the following super-simple steps:
- Go to the Home screen and open up the Apps folder;
- Head to the Settings, for the Display section;
- Select the Wallpaper;
- Tap on the Always On Display option listed in there;
- Switch its dedicated slider to Off.
That’s all it takes to get rid of this feature on the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Now you can lock the screen and wait for it to turn back. You’ll see that the Always-On Display information has vanished.
