Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus: How To Use Adapters As Connectivity Options

For those that own the new Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you may want to know how to connect your Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus devices to TVs and screen share their content or play whatever apps they have on a bigger screen. Naturally, for this to happen, one would need a special adapter that will create the connectivity between the two devices.

If you’re interested in screen sharing and playing your Galaxy S8 or S8+ Plus on a device, this article is a brief guide on what kind of adapters you need and how you should use it. We are actually going to show you two different ways of connecting your smartphone to your TV, depending on the type of adapter you’re getting: a hard-wired model or a wireless one. Both of them will allow you to mirror whatever you have on your phone to HDTV.

Hard-wired adapters for Galaxy S8 to TV

What you need:

  1. An MHL adapter compatible with your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus;
  2. An HDMI cable;
  3. An HDMI to composite adapter, only in case you have an analog TV.

The steps you need to follow:

  1. Purchase a compatible MHL adapter;
  2. Connect your smartphone to the MHL adapter;
  3. Power the adapter by plugging it into a power source;
  4. Connect the adapter to the TV’s HDMI port through the HDMI cable (if your TV doesn’t have an HDMI port, plug the HDMI to composite adapter into it and use the HDMI cable to connect the smartphone with the TV);
  5. Enter the TV settings and select to display video from the HDMI port you are currently using.

Once you did all that, the TV should instantly mirror everything you have on your phone.

Wireless adapters for Galaxy S8 to TV

What you need:

  1. A Samsung AllShare Hub;
  2. An HDMI cable.

The steps you need to follow:

  1. Purchase the AllShare Hub and the HDMI cable;
  2. Use the HDMI cable to connect the AllShare Hub to the TV;
  3. Connect your smartphone and the AllShare Hub or the TV to the same wireless network;
  4. Go to the Settings menu and tap on Screen Mirroring.

Once you did all that, the TV should instantly mirror your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus content. Needless to say, if your TV is a Samsung SmartTV, you won’t need the AllShare Hub at all.
