Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus are Samsung’s latest flagships and despite being so recently launched on the market, the questions about them aren’t quite a novelty. For instance, many would like to know a few tips about changing the wallpaper, something that Android users tend to do with all kinds of smartphones. Of course, it is possible to do the same with these two new devices.
In today’s article, we’d like to show you not only how to change the wallpaper of the Home screen, also known as the background, but the lock screen wallpaper as well. It’s a basic feature and it is not complicated at all. Let us show you what settings you need to tackle.
How to change lock screen wallpaper on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus
We’ll start with this one since the lock screen is the first thing you see and probably the first thing you want to change about your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus. And since we discuss it separately from the Home screen, it goes without saying that the two screens can have different wallpapers.
Back to the lock screen, there’s more than one way to do it. The easiest of them all, however, consists in some editing from the… home screen. You go there, pick an empty spot, and long press until everything zooms out. It’s the sign that you’ve accessed the custom mode, where you have some special options regarding the main screen, the wallpaper, and the position of the icons.
Obviously, you will want to select the Wallpaper feature displayed at the bottom of the display. You will then be redirected to a page with pre-installed background wallpapers. Select whatever catches your eye from there or use the View Gallery option to browse for your own images. If one of the photos taken by you is a much better option, just select it and use the Set Wallpaper button to officially turn it into your lock screen wallpaper.
So far, we mentioned the predefined backgrounds and the possibility to add a photo from a gallery. The alternative, however, is about installing a dedicated third-party app that will come with a more generous selection of images particularly designed to serve as wallpapers. Zedge is on top of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus users’ preferences, have a look at it and maybe you’ll fall for it too.
How to change Home screen wallpaper on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus
As a short recap, we just showed you how to tweak the lock screen. And we made it perfectly clear that the Home screen is just as independent as it can be. The only thing that will come naturally after that is to select a different wallpaper for the panels of the Home screen.
To change the image of this screen, most of the steps are the same as above. The only difference is that after you have accessed the custom mode and selected the Wallpaper option, you’ll have to look at the top left corner and tap the option labeled as “Home screen”.
In the next window that will open, you will see three options – lock, home, or both. Select the feature whose wallpaper you want to edit – in this particular case, the Home screen – and continue as suggested above. Select one of the predefined images, browse your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus for photos taken with your camera, or download a wallpaper app – Zedge or anything else – from the Google Play Store. And… that was all!
