Galaxy S8 Or Galaxy S8+ Plus Doesn’t Receive Text Messages – Solution

If you search the web, you’ll notice that many users complain about not receiving text messages. While the topic always seems to be the same, the contexts vary, however. And it’s not just when comparing a Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus with a Galaxy S8 or any other smartphone. Even for the same model, different users find different ways to describe this problem. From the many topics that our readers write us about, we decided to analyze a special situation.

This situation concerns the Samsung owners who recently changed their SIM card from an Apple device. If you’ve done this, by all means, read on and you will find valuable information for your text messages problem on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus.

This problem that we just signaled has two different facets: some cannot receive text messages and others cannot send them. That’s how our readers report it. But when we start asking some in depth questions, they realize that the two facets translate into:

  1. Cannot receive texts or SMS on my Galaxy S8+ Plus from other people who use iPhones to text;
  2. Cannot send text messages or SMS to other people who DON’T use an Apple phone (basically, to anyone with Android, Blackberry, Windows etc.).

Do you notice how the Apple and its iPhones make the common point here? If you correlate this observation with our initial question – have you recently swapped an iPhone for an Android phone – can you see where we’re going?

To kill the suspense, it’s your iMessage account that you probably forgot to deactivate.

What does it have to do with you not sending/receiving texts? To put it simple, if you’ve used this SIM card in conjunction with the iMessage center, they remain connected. The problem, however, is that you’ve lost access to it now that you’ve switched to an Android device.

So, every time when a non-Apple device is trying to text you, messages can’t reach your SIM. The same, every time when you’re trying to reach someone else with a text, it won’t get to those who don’t have the iMessage activated as well – the Android, Blackberry, Windows users.

The solution: deactivate your iMessage and you will fix your Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus not getting texts.

Method #1 – use your old iPhone:

  1. Take the SIM card out of your Android smartphone and reinsert it into the old iPhone;
  2. Connect the iPhone to a data network (LTE, 3G, whatever);
  3. Go to the Settings section;
  4. Tap on Message;
  5. Turn off the iMessage.

Method #2 – use the online page:

  1. Access the Deregister iMessage page;
  2. Look for “No longer have your iPhone?” text at the bottom of the page;
  3. Tap on it and enter the phone number in the indicated field;
  4. Select your region;
  5. Tap on Send code;
  6. Use the code that you get into the “Enter confirmation code” field;
  7. Click on the Submit button.

Both methods are just as effective for making your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus receive text messages from Apple users once again. As you can see, the first one is for those who still are in the possession of their old iPhone. The second one is for those who don’t have it anymore, but you can also use it if you’re too lazy to swap the SIM card.
