If you want to keep your data usage low, you’re going to turn data off and on, depending on your needs. This works for Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus as it works for any other smartphone out there that provides you mobile Internet.
In case you haven’t asked yourself this before, we need to tell you why it is a good idea to have better control over data usage. There’s only a limited amount of traffic you can get, that’s a fact. If you let mobile data turned on all the time, you have no guarantee that your smartphone will not use it even when it has an apparently functional Wi-Fi connection.
Otherwise said, your smartphone can automatically switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data whenever it feels that the wireless connection is not stable or fast enough. And while you’re sitting relaxed, thinking you’re on wireless, you’re not. Apps like social networking, emails, daily lifestyle apps and more, might as well connect to the Internet and consume your mobile data searching for updates and then downloading them.
Another situation when you’d want to keep mobile data off is when traveling abroad. Costs for international data usage can be very high, so unless you don’t care how much you’d have to pay for it, keep a low profile. Don’t reach your data limit for that month without even knowing how did you use that Internet.
How to turn mobile data On and Off on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus:
- Swipe down the top menu;
- Select the small Settings icon from the upper right corner;
- Tap on Data Usage;
- Select Mobile Data;
- Switch its status to turn Off mobile data;
- Hit the OK button.
As you can imagine, this is the very same place where you’d have to get back when you want to reactivate the mobile data. Tap on the status switch and go back from Off to On.
The process is simple and the call is yours. We just wanted to underline the fact that you might be using mobile data even without knowing it. So if you care about it and you don’t want your battery to drain out faster because apps are searching for updates when you expect less, keep an eye on this setting of your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus.
