Are you passionate about taking all kinds of photographs with your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus? Sooner or later, you will feel the need to better organize your photos and knowing where exactly you have captured them will help a lot.
That’s what the Geo Tag Location is for, a special feature that literally puts your photographs on the map. That way, you will know, for every single one of them, the geographical details.
In today’s article, we’d like to share with you a few tips on how to activate or deactivate this function. But just to put it into a better context for you, using the location tag will embed the EXIF data, also referred to as metadata, right into your pictures. When you’ll look at the pictures later, you will be able to tell not only the date and time when you took the pictures or the model of camera that you used, but also the location.
Needless to say, not all owners of Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus want to have the geolocation activated when doing photographs. That’s mostly related to privacy concerns if you don’t want other people who access your photographs to know exactly where and when you’ve been to all those places.
But if you are passionate about documenting your travels, the geo-tagging will help you a lot. So, no matter your attitude, for the time being, you’d better learn how to tweak these settings.
How do you remove the location details from your photographs?
You’d be surprised to discover that there are quite a few different methods for eliminating EXIF data from your photographs. There are even special third-party apps that you can download, naturally, from the Play Store, and that are specifically designed to do just that.
But if you’re not a fan of installing too many apps on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, you’ll be happy to know that you can also solve this problem from the menus of your smartphone.
Our advice is, therefore, to access the Gallery app and start editing the photographs from where you want to clean off the EXIF data:
- Tap on an image from the Gallery app;
- Tap on the button labeled as More;
- Tap on Details;
- Tap on Edit;
- Look for the location section and select the Minus symbol next to it;
- Tap on Done when you’ve finished eliminating data.
That’s how you get rid of all the data that you don’t want to show up in your photographs. Do not worry, if you decide that you want to insert some data back, you can retake these steps and simply tap on the Plus symbol next to the data that you want to appear in the photos. That’s very easy to do when you want to add geolocation back, for instance.
