How To Disable Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus Notification LED Light

Things can rapidly change even from one firmware update to another. But switching from S7 to Samsung’s latest flagships, the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus may be even more challenging. It is true, many features remained the same, though, suffices for you to need to access even one option that is no longer in the same place as it used to be and you’ll feel the frustration.

In today’s article, we’d like to discuss with you the matter of the notification LED light. It is one of the best examples as many users prefer to get rid of it but they are not really sure how to do it. It is also an old feature, like we suggested above, and discovering that its settings are now different and the path you need to navigate to change it is not the same, will raise your blood pressure a little bit.

To spare you from all the effort, we will tell you that it’s still easy to do. Give yourself 20 seconds or so and you’ll learn how to control the nasty tiny LED sitting at the top of your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus screen. You’ve seen it turning red when you’re out of battery and plug in the charger, then turning orange and green once you have a full battery. And that’s ok. But what if you keep seeing it blinking every few seconds after every unread notification you get on the phone?

Some users love it because it tells them when they need to unlock the screen and check up on something and when they can let the phone sit without worrying that they miss important information. Other users, however, don’t like it and don’t need it. Rest assured, nobody officially complained so far that the LED started to blink randomly or malfunction in any other way. But there are still plenty of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus users who just wanted to know how to turn it off.

If you’re looking for the same kind of information, remember that there are only 4 steps you need to take:

  1. Go to Settings – the small gear icon from the upper right corner of the Notification panel;
  2. Navigate to the Display section;
  3. Tap on the LED Indicator entry;
  4. Tap on the LED Indicator toggle and switch it to Off.

Now you probably have a big grin on your face. So, the option is no longer under the Notifications section, as it used to. They’ve moved it among the Display options but, other than that, everything is just as simple.

Since you know how to do it, the only thing left is to decide if you want to give up on the useful battery charging LED indicator because of the annoying unread notifications LED indicator. They are displayed with the same LED light, in different colors, as mentioned, but you just cannot have one without the other.

Some will be annoyed by it and decide to simply deactivate it. You can do the same without worries. If you ever want it back, follow the same path and switch the toggle from Off to On. The Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will return to its standard notification LED light in no time!
