How To Enable Data Saver On Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus

Some of the owners of the Samsung Galaxy S8 may get surprised after realizing that their monthly planned data plan does not even take you through half the month. Although we tend to user limited cellular data, by the end of the month we always find ourselves with a shortage in balance. You may have observed that the large data consumption is usually as a result of background apps. Lucky for us, Android devices can now allow us to set a data limit. This ensures that we are forewarned whenever our data consumption nears the set limit. However, it is common that you might end up forgetting to set the limits and as such we don’t pay attention to the apps that could end up sucking a massive amount of data.

However, with the latest Android version, Android 7.0 Nougat there are numerous features with exciting functionalities. One of these is the Data Saver feature. This feature guarantees you a great deal of data saving and you can always enjoy the latest Operating System to the fullest.

What Is a Data Saver?

A Data Saver is one of the new features in Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus which aims to save you a lot of money by making the smartphone less consuming of data. You can enable this feature by browsing the settings in your Android smartphone. Once enabled, this feature will automatically block all the background usage of data. Moreover, it does a great job in notifying the apps to use as less data as possible. If you are using a metered connection, the Data Saver will kick in to manage all the background data usage. If you are not using a metered connection, then you can rely on the data saver to allow perhaps to only do what you program them to do.

The Data Saver works with almost every cellular data plan and this includes prepaid services. This ensures that if you are planning to travel abroad, this feature can still help you to save on data even with the phone in roaming mode.

The Data Saver has its limits too because it restricts the performance ability of each app and as such you may have to add these apps on the whitelist. The whitelist is usually user-created and it allows you to add specific apps to it. This will enable these apps to run in the background. This gives apps the freedom to do what they have been designed for.

You will not find this feature automatically activated on your new Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. You will have to do the activation by yourself by going to the settings and enabling it from there. We have a detailed explanation of how to enable the Data Saver feature on your smartphone.
