How To Make Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus Read Texts

If you’re familiar with S Voice, you already know that you can make a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus to write words based on what you dictate. But how about making it read you texts? You’ve heard about it on other smartphones, where you have to install a Text-to-Speech from the Play Store?

The great thing about the Galaxy S8+ Plus is that it comes with the ability to use dictation to speak texts as a built-in feature. From speaking translations to reading books or any other kinds of texts out loud, there’s a lot you can do with it. What’s even cooler is that it supports a wide range of other languages, besides English.


Have we made you curious? Here’s how to enjoy new experiences on your smartphone by making it to read your texts on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus:

  1. Turn on the device;
  2. Make sure you’re on the Home screen;
  3. Extend the Menu with a simple swipe;
  4. Select on Settings;
  5. Navigate to the System section;
  6. Tap on Language and Input;
  7. Browse for the Speech section;
  8. Tap on the Text-to-speech options;
  9. Select your desired TTS engine – you will have to choose between Samsung and Google text-to-speech engine;
  10. Look for the Settings icon available next to the search engine;
  11. Tap on Install voice data;
  12. Hit the Download button;
  13. Wait a little until the language will be downloaded;
  14. Select Language;
  15. Leave these menus and head back to the Home screen;
  16. Tap on Apps;
  17. Tap on S Voice;
  18. Select the Recent Apps key;
  19. Select Set Driving Mode On.


Now your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus is ready to read text. When you want to turn off the driving mode, head back to the Recent Apps key and touch the Set Driving Mode Off.

The only disadvantage of this interesting feature is that it cannot really help you if you’re visually impaired. The way it speaks everything in real time can be hard to keep up with if your vision isn’t that good. Hearing your smartphone telling you on which menu screen you’re currently on, where are you tapping, what notification you just got and so on is, nevertheless, an amazing experience that you should try at least once.
