How To Read Text On Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus

One of the best features of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus smartphone is its ability to read text. You can have your Galaxy S8 read out texts aloud to you using dictation. And all this is really easy. In other smartphones, you are required to go to Google Play Store then download an application named Text-to-Speech to get it to read out texts loud for you, but not in your Galaxy.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus features allows you to have your texts read out loud. This means the feature can speak translations, read a book for you and so many other awesome things. What even more cool about the read text component is that you can even set your Galaxy S8 to any language of your preference besides English without much of a hassle.

Getting your galaxy S8 to read out texts for you

  1. Power ON your Galaxy S8
  2. Set your Galaxy to the Home screen
  3. Browse on Settings
  4. Then go to System
  5. Choose Language & Input
  6. Select the Text-to-speech engine you wish to acquire. Either of;
    • Google TTS engine and
    • Samsung TTS engine
  7. Adjacent to the search engine is a Settings sign. Hit it.
  8. Then choose Install voice data
  9. Press download
  10. Then wait for the language pack to download
  11. Then hit the Back button
  12. Then browse on your preferred language and set it.


You should however note that this feature of the Galaxy S8 is not suitable for those who are visually impaired, as the Galaxy S8 speaks everything you do in real time such as the Menu screen you are on or where you are touching as well as what your notifications state.

After you have followed the above guidelines, set your phone to Home screen then go to Applications and pick on S Voice. Browse on the Recent Apps key and choose Set Driving Mode ON. To switch OFF driving Mode, press the Recent Apps key once more then hit on Set Driving Mode OFF.
