How To Turn OFF And ON Severe Weather Alerts On Samsung Note 9 And Note 8

Do you have any idea what the severe weather alerts on Samsung Note 9 and Note 8 really are? If you don’t, you’d better do your research in advance, before it gets triggered – for all the right reasons or completely by mistake – and seriously scare you out of your wits…

If you do that, you’ll discover that the severe weather alert is a part of a more complex emergency notifications service. Carriers have concluded that there are four major alerts that their users must be able to receive in bulk, whenever a sensitive and potentially dangerous or even life-threatening situation requires it!

The Presidential, the Extreme, the Severe, and the AMBER alerts are all active on Samsung Note 9 and Note 8 and they can trigger at any given time. To show the severity of their nature and to make sure that they don’t go unnoticed, the device was configured with a very loud and extremely annoying alert tone. Now, you can decide to disable them all, except for the Presidential alert.

All the other alerts, coming from official sources such as FEMA, FCC, state or local safety agencies, the Homeland Security or, in the case of the severe weather alerts, the National Weather Service, will get to your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Note 9 as long as you keep the alert service active.

The reason why some people would consider turning off the severe weather alerts on their smartphones is either that they don’t care, or they have experienced an accidental alert and decided that they don’t need such things. Regardless of your personal reasons, when you decide to do the same, all you have to do is to:

  1. Access the Messages app;
  2. Navigate to the Settings section;
  3. Identify the Emergency Alerts;
  4. Uncheck the box or the boxes of the alert or the alerts that you want to deactivate.

The same goes for the moment when you decide to reactivate any of the previously blocked alerts. Go back to Settings, Emergency Alerts, and check the required boxes. Now you know how to turn off the severe weather alerts on Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Note 8, and all the other alerts, as mentioned, except for the Presidential one.
