How To Turn ON Predictive Text Samsung Galaxy Note 8

What do you think of, when it comes to the Predictive Text feature? Maybe you’ve bumped into it a long time ago, when you were browsing through the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 settings, searching for something else. Maybe you’ve heard people talking about it recently – since it is certainly one of the coolest typing features you have at hand – and it suddenly caught your interest.

Whatever the case, we’re here to shed some light and tell you a bit more on this so-called Predictive Text. It is a feature that… predicts what you are planning to type, hence the name. It is actually an input technology, so, rest assured, there’s no gimmick involved. This technology doesn’t just guess what you think, it uses the first letters of a word that you type and compares it to everything you’ve “taught” it in the past, whenever you’ve used that word.

This smart combination of what you’ve typed on other occasions and the context of your current conversation makes the Predictive Text to be surprisingly accurate. Or it can simply make your typing on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 a lot funnier, if nothing else, when the suggestions are kind of weird.

All these left aside, if you’re wondering how to get access to it: go to Settings >> Language and Input >> Samsung Keyboard >> turn on the Predictive Text feature.

If you’ve carefully looked through those menus, you must have spotted some other options, right? The advanced settings and the text correction options will keep you busy for a while, if you try to get to the bottom of what each of them does.

Pay attention to the time delays settings. If you have special symbols that you frequently use when you type but they are hard to insert, you can “instruct” a key to insert that symbol after a long press key stroke. Say you long press the F key and you get the pi mathematical symbol or whatever you’ve set – that’s how it goes.

Better yet, take a look at the text correction and the possibility to create a dictionary that will better control what words can(‘t) be automatically corrected. If you feel like there’s too much information, take it step by step. Start by turning on the Predictive Text on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8!
