The Spell Check is a simple and intuitive typing function of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus that does exactly what its name implies. At least almost exactly, because there are instances when the typos or spelling errors that it signals aren’t quite appropriate for the context.
After all, it’s just an app that compiles significant amounts of information and tries to adapt some pre-defined rules to a particular written context. But we often bend the writing rules and our expressions can be so unique that there is no wonder, not all its indications are accurate.
If you haven’t used it before, the function is very simple: wherever you’re typing words on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, it automatically underlines in red whatever it considers being a misspelled word. If you tap on the highlights, you get suggestions with words that would have a more appropriate meaning for that context, according to the app’s estimations.
Whether you want to turn this function on or off, here’s what you need to do to use spell check on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus:
How to turn the Spell Check On or Off on Galaxy S8 and S8+ Plus
- Swipe the Menu from the top of the screen;
- Tap on the Android System settings;
- Tap on Language & Input;
- Look for the Samsung Keyboard section and tap on it;
- From the list of options, select the Auto Check Spelling.
These are the steps for turning the Spell Check on. If you want to turn it off, you go back and use the same steps, only that you will be able to switch the Auto Check Spelling from On to Off.
Just bear in mind that these instructions from above are for those who use the built-in Samsung keyboard. For any other third-party keyboard app, the steps might be slightly different.
