The Samsung Galaxy J5 smartphone comes with two touch buttons that, as you have probably noticed, light up when you touch it. Most of our readers pay attention to this diffuse light from behind the key only when it stops working. Or at least that’s what they think, despite the fact that, more often than not, the light is simply deactivated and not broken.
You can check this aspect by verifying if the touch key still responds to pressure and you can still navigate with it. If your Samsung Galaxy J5 back button works like normally but it no longer lights up, you obviously cannot suspect that the key is broken. Now that you know you’re working on more than a hunch, what can you do about the missing light?
You could accept that it was automatically deactivated by your Samsung Galaxy J5, due to entering the energy saving mode. Did that happen recently, running out of battery?

The simplest fix for your Touch Key light not working will require you to:
- Access the Notification shade, by swiping down from the top of the screen;
- Tap the small gear icon, located at the top-right corner of this menu;
- Once you’ve reached the General Settings, navigate to Quick Settings;
- Identify the Power Saving option and tap on it;
- Select the Power Saving Mode;
- Check the Restrict Performance option;
- Look for the “Turn off touch key light” option and uncheck its box.
Now you’ve made sure that nothing will make the touch key light to turn off again, regardless what happens with the Samsung Galaxy J5’s settings or battery status.
