Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus: Disabling Bloatware Process

The first time you activate your new Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, you might be surprised of how many preloaded apps it comes with. As you probably know, all that is called bloatware – apps that you don’t really need, but the manufacturer is shoving it down your throat.

If you don’t have a saying when it comes to what your smartphone is equipped with, you can turn things around a little bit, by getting rid of part of that bloatware on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus. We’re saying “part of” because not all of the default apps can be completely removed from your smartphone.

Gmail, Google+ and even Play Store, as well as S Health, S Voice, and many others, not just from Google or Samsung, can be deactivated. It might not bring you as much extra space as you’d expect, but at least it gives you the satisfaction that you’re in control of what occupies space on your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus.

Don’t thank Samsung for that, though… As it turns out, the laws in South Korea force manufacturers to give their clients the possibility to uninstall most of the preloaded apps. That’s how you get in control. But never mind all that, let’s focus on how to delete or uninstall bloatware apps on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus.

The simple steps to disabling bloatware apps on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus

When you disable an app, you don’t completely remove it from the smartphone. What you do is removing it from the App drawer, so it won’t be able to run in the background anymore. That also means it won’t drain your battery and other system resources. To disable unnecessary apps, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your smartphone;
  2. Tap on the App drawer;
  3. Select the Edit button;
  4. You will see a list of apps and Minus icons next to each name;
  5. Every app with a Minus icon next to it can be uninstalled or disabled;
  6. Tap on the Minuses next to the apps you want to get rid of.

And that’s all you have to do. We called this article a short guide to disabling bloatware on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus cause there’s really no other longer way or instructions to get these results. Time to start cleaning your smartphone…
