  2. Go to Settings.

Activating Smart Stay

The new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus have a spectacular feature that is able to detect when your eyes are points toward the screen. If your eyes are looking at the screen, it will not timeout. You can follow these steps to turn this function of or off.

  1. Start at the Home screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap “Display“.
  4. Toggle the switch on “Smart stay” to the “On” setting or “Off”.

 

Disable Screen Timeout

There is no way to completely prevent timing out on the Galaxy S8. It is possible however, to set the phone to never time out as long as it is connected to a power source. Follow these steps to apply this setting.

  1. Go to “Settings”.
  2. Tap “About phone“.
  3. Select “Build number” 7 times over and over. This will unlock developer mode.
  4. Find “Settings”. underneath it, there is an option to enter “Developer options“.
  5. Within these options, find and select the “Stay awake” option.
