Google Maps can be a lifesaver. If you’re outside and need to find directions to an address, Google Maps will be able to save you a lot of hassle. Unfortunately, by default, Google Maps on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ Plus requires an internet connection. Without an internet connection, you’ll not be able to use the Google Maps feature. There is a workaround that does allow you to use Google Maps offline, however. You’ll need to download offline areas by using the built-in ‘offline’ feature. In this guide we’ll explain how you can use the offline feature easily on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus.
How To Save Google Map Offline On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus
There are two main methods available for using the Google Maps offline feature. You’ll need to make sure your device is switched on and you’ll then need to open the Google Maps app. Once you’re in the Google Maps app, follow either of the two methods below.
Enter command in the Search of Google Maps
Open the search bar in the Google Maps app and search for “OK Maps.” You should see a download button available for any location you search for.
Save Google Maps via the Info Bar
Alternatively, search for any location on the Google Maps app. Once you have loaded the location, hold your finger on the display. A small checkmark will appear on the location you have held your finger on. Next, look at the information bar at the bottom of the display. You’ll see the highlighted location. You can swipe the information bar upwards, and this will give you more options.
Next, tap the three-dot menu icon and then tap “Save offline map.” You’ll now be able to download the area you have selected for offline viewing. It’s important to note that both of these methods will require an initial internet connection. All offline areas will also be removed after 30 days, so you’ll need to update your offline areas regularly.
We hope this guide has helped to teach you how to download areas in Google Maps for offline viewing on your Galaxy S8+ Plus or Galaxy S8.
