We already spoke of the very amazing Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus camera and it’s out of this world new camera modes. Samsung refers to them as dual pixels and it normally helps the autofocus to lock on to your target much faster and more accurately than ever before. As a matter of fact, this is the best autofocus that I have ever used on a phone, so don’t dismiss this device on such a reason.
Additionally, there is no LED flash on the latest Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus front camera but this should not worry you either. Different phone brands are working day and night to include as many features as possible to their front camera and Samsung is sure among those. We’ve spent the last few weeks trying to take a deeper look at the camera to see what kind of new goodies Samsung has thrown in and came up with a few discoveries.
It actually came as a surprise to me when Samsung took a feature from the competition then implemented a software-based flash option for its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus front camera. This is known as the Selfie Flash. The Selfie Flash makes the screen go all white for a second while taking a selfie in order to bring some light to your selfies.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus Selfie Flash is like a clear copy of the iPhone’s ‘Screen Flash’ method of illuminating target faces in the front camera. It is therefore hard not to recognize the similarity especially when this feature never seen in the Galaxy S6 Duo and only popped up a year after Apple introduced it. However, a little inspiration from your competitors doesn’t pain and what’s even more appealing is that Samsung’s version of the feature seem to give a much brighter glow that Apple can ever manage.
If we keep comparing, then you should also note that the Samsung selfies are much smoother too, with the default processing software cleaning up photos like you could ever imagine. The very handy Beauty mode as well as the Motion photos features make your images look better than you could ever bargain for.
