With the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus, it is now possible to share your WiFi connectivity with another device. In the past, Android tethering options were limited to tethering via USB and tethering via mobile data. However, with the S8 range, Galaxy owners can now tether their own WiFi connection.
This can be useful for when you need to gain access to WiFi with a device that doesn’t have a strong enough WiFi signal, whilst your Samsung device can connect.
This can also be useful when you need to get your WiFi to reach further distances. You could place your Samsung device halfway between your router and your other WiFi device to effectively double the WiFi distance. Follow the guide below to find out how to enable Galaxy S8 WiFi sharing.
How to enable Galaxy S8 WiFi sharing
- Open the Settings app
- Tap the option for Mobile hotspot and tethering, then tap on More.
- Tap to toggle WiFi sharing to the ON position.
It’s important to note that this feature will only work for Galaxy S8 devices. Even the Galaxy S8 does not support the WiFi sharing feature. Some Galaxy S8 owners have also reported that this feature does not work on the Verizon version of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ Plus.
