Samsung Note 8 And Note 9: How To Take Silent Pictures With No Sound

Silent pictures without making any sound… this is a controversial topic, among Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9 users as well as among any other Android device users. On one hand, you might argue that you have the right to take selfies without drawing anyone’s attention to you. On the other hand, the laws state that anyone who might get caught in your pictures has the right to know about it.

For this reason, any device with a built-in digital camera must make a sound every time when you take a snapshot. It’s not just in America but in pretty much any other country in the world. Consequently, the built-in camera app of Samsung Note 8 and Note 9 makes the shutter sound. And just so you know, blocking that sound is illegal.

Truth to be told, however, we are on your side on this one. If you want to take a selfie in a very quiet environment – and if it really is a selfie, not a sneaky picture of someone else – you should be able to take it. The question is, can you do it from the built-in camera app?

By now, you must have tried to use your headphones, hoping that this will shut off the annoying sound. But the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9 continues to release the sound through the speakers, simply ignoring your headphones. That’s because the noise that the camera produces is considered by your smartphone a notification sound. This kind of sound is different from the one of any media audio, which is why the trick with the headphones won’t work.

Still, there are two other tricks that will work. You don’t have to like it, but it is important to know that you can count on it:

  1. You can either opt for a third-party camera app;
  2. Or you can turn down the volume.

Using a third-party camera app…

Not all the camera apps that you can find at the Google Play Store will work out just like that. You have to test it and see if it comes with that camera shutter noise or not. And, of course, you will have to read the reviews and decide that it is a good camera software for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9.

Using the volume settings…

This option will allow you to keep using the built-in camera app, but it will prevent you from keeping the device on the loud ring mode. To take pictures with no sound on Note 9 and Note 8, you must have no sound for the notifications. The vibration or the silent mode will do it, but are you willing to press the Volume Down button whenever you need to take a silent picture?
