If you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus smartphone, you’ve probably noticed by now that star icon from the status bar. But if just like many of our users don’t really know what it means, we’re going to solve this mystery once and for all.
When the star symbol pops up on your status bar, you’ve just activated the Interruptions Mode.
This built-in feature is designed to only let messages and calls go through the notification panel, as these ones are the only ones considered important as long as the Interruptions Mode is active.
Otherwise said, the star on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus is telling you that a Priority setting was activated through the Interruptions Mode. And no, it didn’t miraculously appear on your display, you or someone else must have accidentally activated it from the menus.
This feature can be easily turned on and off from under the Sound & Notifications menu. To get there, follow these steps:
- Launch the general Menu with one swipe from the top of the Home screen;
- Select on Settings;
- Go to Sound & Notifications;
- Tap on Interruptions.
Getting here will make the star icon disappear from the status bar, as the Interrupt Mode was disabled. But now that you know what’s with this symbol and its functionalities, keep in mind that you can always get back here and reactivate it. Obviously, this is for times when you don’t want to be bothered with email notifications, Facebook or Twitter notifications and so on.
