Just like you can use the private mode to navigate incognito on your Internet browser, you can use the same function so that no one else will be able to see what you’ve been viewing on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus. The good news about the information we’re going to share with you in this article is that you won’t need to install any kind of third-party apps. It all comes down to the built-in functions of your smartphone and how to make the best of it.
It’s important to note the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus has Private Mode called Secure Folder, so we’ll use this words interchangeably.
What you need to know about Private Mode on Galaxy S8 / S8+ Plus
First of all, the Private Mode function we are talking about doesn’t refer to how you navigate online, but to what you do on your smartphone. It allows you to hide photos, videos and files in many other formats from other people.
As long as you keep this function turned on, intruders can only view anything on your device if they use the correct password code or unlock pattern.
Your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus will allow you to enable and disable the Private Mode however you wish, but also to add or to remove particular files from the Private Mode.
How do you turn on Private Mode on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus?
The process is as simple as swiping with two fingers and tapping with one. You must already know that if you swipe with one finger from the top of the screen, a small menu with several basic options will open up.
If you swipe with two fingers, a larger menu, covering almost the entire display, will pop up. From the list of options available in there, tap on the Private Mode and insert the Pin Code and that was it.
The first time when you’re activating this function, you will also have to look at a basic walkthrough but in the future, it really takes one tap and inserting the Pin Code.
How do I turn off Private Mode on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus?
The process of disabling the Private Mode is similar with the one of enabling it. Again, you swipe with two fingers from the top of the screen and tap on the Private Mode icon to deactivate it.
Your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus will switch back to the normal mode right after that.
How do I add or remove files from the Private Mode?
We already suggested you that this mode supports a couple of different media types, photographs and videos included. By adding a file to the Private Mode, you are basically making it visible only when the Private Mode is enabled. To do so:
- Follow the steps from above and activate the Private Mode;
- Browse to the path of the file that you want to add to the Private Mode;
- Select that file (or all the files you want to move) and then tap on the Overflow menu button available in the upper-right corner;
- Tap on the option that says Move to Private.
That way, you can create special folders with files that are only visible in the Private Mode. Your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus will be better protected from anyone sniffing around and trying to access information that you want to keep just for yourself. Like we said, once you created that folder and moved the files in it, you will only be able to visualize it in Private Mode.
