WMV Files Does Not Play On Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus

If you are trying to play a WMV file on your Samsung Galaxy S8, you may notice that by default your device may not be able to play it. Whilst there are many different types of file formats that the Galaxy S8 does support, some users have reported that WMV files cannot be played on the Samsung Galaxy S8.

WMV are typically files used solely for Windows Movie Maker, but with an application from the Google Play Store it is possible to view WMV and other video files on your Galaxy S8.

The app you need to be able to play WMV files on your Samsung Galaxy S8 is called VLC Media Player. To find this file, open the Google Play Store application and search for “VLC Media Player.” Once you have found the right app, tap the install button to install it.

Once VLC Media Player has installed, you will be able to view the WMV file through the VLC media player app. You can either tap the WMV file in your file manager and tap to open it through VLC media player, or alternatively open the VLC media player app and open the WMV file through that.
