Several people have said that they’ve had some problems with their AT&T network. Some of the issues they’ve been dealing with is not being able to send texts/receive them and sometimes not being able to make calls. If you think there’s an AT&T outage in your area, we have recommendations on things you should do to solve your issue
It should be noted that sometimes if you can’t make a call or send a text, there actually might not be an AT&T outage, but an issue with your device that you need to fix. Some of the things that you should check out before contacting AT&T include:
- Making sure Airplane Mode is not turned on your device. If it’s enabled then you won’t be able to make or receive calls; same thing goes for texts.
- Attempt to turn off your smartphone and let it stay powered for a few minutes. Then turn it back on and see if you’re problem has been fixed.
- Remoce a case or cover that you might have attached to your smartphone, sometimes these things block the connection and are the cause of the issue.
We also suggest that you check out the AT&T support page to see if any of their troubleshooting guides can help you fix your problem. Overall it’s a good tool to look over and see if you’re having any similar problems to people on the AT&T support page.
Go To ‘Help with a Service Outage’ On AT&T
One recommendation that we suggest is you should go to the help with a service outage on the AT&T website. Sometimes you can quickly figure out if there’s an outage in your area or not. Other useful resources on this website including some helpful troubleshooting guides that teach you how to clear cache or restarting your device that can lead to your issues being solved.
Opt-In For Outage Alerts
A quick notification that you can sign up for is for alerts of outages on AT&T in your area. All you need to do is sign into your AT&T account and turn on the outage alert setting and then select if you’d like to be notified via a text message or email.
Get In Touch With AT&T
Another option that have is to get in touch with AT&T and speak with them directly. It should be noted that if you can’t make calls then you can’t do this method. But if you’re only having texting issues, then this method will work. You can either dial *611 from your Phone app or call 1-800-331-0500.
Visit The Outage Site
The final thing that we suggest is that you check a website like Outage.Report and see if there’s been a report of an outage in your area. This site is great because you can find your exact city and times if any reports have been filed.
Another website that we suggest to check out is downdetector.com. This website is somewhat similar to the one mentioned above. But it has a live map of areas that have outages. It’s not going to hurt to check the site as well to see if you can figure out if you’re actually dealign with an outage or not.
Hopefully this has helped you with the issues you’ve been dealing with your AT&T smartphone. If you have any other suggestions on tools or resources that can help others in the future deal with an Outage, please mention it in the comments below.
