Can’t Receive Texts On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus

When you can’t receive texts on your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, you feel frustrated. It’s not just that you might be missing important information from friends, family or coworkers. You’re also constantly stressed wondering if anyone tried to send you a message and this uncertainty is killing you.

While out of the blue not being able to receive texts is not such a common problem among Galaxy users, it is a particular situation we would like to discuss. The cause might be simple and you are probably clueless about it.

The question is: have you previously used the current SIM card on an Apple device?

If you did, the answer is: all your messages are going to the iMessage, which you obviously cannot use, now that you switched to an Android device.

Aside from remembering that you really used the iMessage in the past, there are some other telltales you could look into.

Most often, the users who experience this inconvenient notice that:

  • They cannot receive messages from a contact who texts them via an iPhone;
  • Or they cannot send messages to contacts who use anything but an Apple smartphone. Whether it’s another Android, a Windows Phone or a Blackberry, texts get lost on the way.

Simply put, if you transferred your actual SIM card from an iPhone to an Android smartphone without deactivating the iMessage in advance, you’re likely to deal with the entire above.

Rest assured, there is a solution for your problem. Actually, there are two solutions, depending on the following:

  1. How to fix Galaxy S8 not receiving texts when you still have your old iPhone

That’s right, the first solution implies having the iPhone that you initially used, where the iMessage remained active. If you have it, you will need to:

  1. Turn off the Samsung Galaxy S8;
  2. Take out the SIM card;
  3. Insert the SIM into your old iPhone;
  4. Connect the smartphone to a data network, be it 3G or LTE;
  5. Access the Settings;
  6. Go to Messages;
  7. Turn off the iMessage.

  1. How to fix Galaxy S8 not receiving texts when you dont have your old iPhone anymore

That’s right, there is still hope, even if you’re no longer in the possession of that iPhone:

  1. Access the Deregister iMessage page;
  2. Turn off the iMessage from there;
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page;
  4. Identify the option that says “No longer have your iPhone?”;
  5. In the newly opened field type in your phone number and select the region;
  6. In the field labeled as “enter confirmation code” write that code;
  7. Click on the Submit button.

From now on, messages should enter your inbox like charm.
