How To Turn On/Off Data On Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Plus

As an owner of Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, you know it can keep you busy all day long. If you have an internet connection, there’s little you cannot do on your smartphone, so it could be difficult to put it aside.

But do you always have a reliable wireless connection at hand? When you’re forced to use your Mobile Data, you probably aren’t as relaxed as with the wireless. After all, you need to keep your traffic under control, so you won’t exceed the limit and have to pay extra.

The problem is, however, that Mobile Data can drain even when you aren’t personally doing something on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus. Apps that may be running in the background and that need constant updates, such as social account apps, lifestyle apps, and even email apps, they can all connect to the internet and use your data when you expect less.

If you also happen to travel abroad and you don’t have the appropriate control over your Mobile Data, the extra fees will pile up as you could be charged for International data usage.

Long story short, you need to keep your Data off whenever you’re away from a wireless connection and you’re not really planning to use the Internet on your smartphone. Needless to say, even when you’re in your own country, if you’re getting close to the monthly data limit, you should also close the Data for good, so you avoid the extra charges.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to prevent your wireless carrier from charging you extra by monitoring Mobile Data usage and knowing how to turn it on and off, upon your needs.

How to turn mobile data On and Off in Galaxy S8/S8+ Plus

If you’re not worried about your monthly bill and you are willing to pay extra, you should consider another drawback of keeping data always turned on. When the device has a permanent internet connection, the apps running in the background will permanently scan for updates. This means that your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus will also lose battery faster. So here is what you have to do in order to deactivate Mobile Data:

  1. Swipe down the Menu bar from the upper side of the screen;
  2. Tap on the Settings icon;
  3. Scroll down to Data Usage and tap on it;
  4. In the newly opened window, look for the Mobile Data line and switch its toggle from On to Off.

Now you can continue using your phone however you please. If you need the Internet, you should be able to connect to a wireless network. Whenever you need your Mobile Data On again, retake the steps from above and switch the Mobile Data toggle from Off to On.
