LG G5 Problems With WiFi (Solutions)

Many owners of the new LG G5 have reported problems with the smartphone’s internet connectivity. These issues can include weak WiFi connections, lag while using apps and a failure to connect to the strongest network signals.

Here we highlight some of the most common causes for internet issues on your LG G5. We also provide a few ideas that can help fix the problem.

Common issues causing slow WiFi on your LG G5

One of the common causes for slow internet speeds on this device is the use of popular app like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others.

There have also been reports that the LG G5 can have trouble loading images correctly when network lag is a problem.

Here are some suggestions you can try to solve your internet concerns.

Wipe cache partition

  1. Turn off your LG G5.
  2. Press and Hold the power button, volume up and Home button all together at the same time.
  3. Recover mode should be activated.
  4. Find and select “wipe cache partition”.
  5. The LG G5 should then run the wipe. When it is done select “reboot system now”.

LG G5 changes from WiFi to Data on its own

There is a function within the Android settings that allows you to control this behavior. Your LG G5 network connection changes from WiFi to mobile data because it is set to do so within its WLAN activation parameters.

The LG G5 performs this “Smart network switch” in order to keep a stable network for the user at all times. This setting can be changed in attempt to correct its resulting issues.

Disable smart network switch

  1. Ensure your LG G5 is turned on.
  2. Allow Mobile Data connection.
  3. Then open the Menu.
  4. Got to Settings.
  5. Then select Wireless.
  6. Find “Smart network switch”.
  7. Deselect this option.

Now your LG G5 will no longer change from WiFi to mobile data without your permission.

Forget saved Wi-Fi networks

You can try deleting saved networks on your LG G5, to then reconnect with a stronger signal. Do this by following the steps outlined below.

  1. Start with your LG G5 turned on
  2. Swipe down and Tap Settings.
  3. Find and select Wi-Fi.
  4. Make sure Wi-Fi is on.
  5. Find the network you want to forget.
  6. Tap to open the menu and select Forget.

On the Menu for each network there is also a“modify” option. Here you can change the password of your network connection.

Get Technical Support

If you still have trouble after you have tried the above solutions, you may want to try taking your LG G5 to a specialist technician. If the device is dysfunctional they may offer a repair or replacement.
