The Galaxy S8+ Plus, just like Galaxy S8, comes with a built-in function that lets you split the screen and visualize multiple apps at the same time. This isn’t about using the Recent Apps menu, from where you can switch between apps with just one tap on the screen. Just like the name of this function suggests, it literally splits your screen, making room for two apps at the same time.
In order to use the Split Screen View, you will first need to activate the Multi Window Mode. These two features go hand in hand, but activating both of them is really easy. As you’ve probably guessed, it’s a matter of playing with the menus of your smartphone. In this article, we will walk you through the two stages of this process:
1.How to activate Multi Window Mode on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus
Before you can turn on the Split Screen function, you need to have your device run in this special mode, Multi Window. To activate it, follow these steps:
- From the Home screen, go to the main Menu;
- Tap on Settings;
- Identify the Device section and under it, tap on Multi window;
- Look for the toggle associated with the Multi Window mode (somewhere at the top right corner) and switch it to ON;
- If you want this mode to remain active by default, also check the “Open in Multi Window view” box.
2.How to activate Split Screen View on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus
Leave the settings and get back to the Home screen. As a sign that you have activated the view mode, you should notice a grey half-circle on the display.
Tap on the half-circle to activate the Split Screen View and you’re good to go. The only thing left is to start dragging into this window the icons from the menu that you are planning to run in the Split Screen View.
Not happy with the default screen size? In both Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus and Galaxy S8, you can press and hold the circle from the screen’s center and place it to the new location where you want it to be. Happy screen splitting!
