Where Can I Find Flashlight On My Galaxy S8 Or Galaxy S8+ Plus?

If you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ Plus, you might have heard that there’s a Torch widget on it that acts as a flashlight. Many users are well-familiarized with this option and have been using it for quite some time. Others are just beginning to find out about it and want to know more on how they can activate it.

Just in case you’re new to this, we need to warn you that using the flashlight on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus won’t necessarily give the same results as a LED Maglite does. But even so, it cannot hurt to have an extra source of light at your disposal.

Moving on to the actual details, using the Flashlight or the Torch app, as it is labeled on your smartphone, doesn’t require installing anything. This widget comes by default, you just need to find its path and learn how to create a shortcut on the Home screen, for easier, faster, and more direct access.

A widget is a small shortcut that you can place, as mentioned, on the Home screen. The flashlight app has this Torch widget that once you bring to the screen, you can activate and deactivate with just one tap. If you look at it, the resemblance to an app icon is striking. But if you tap it, no app launches, nothing else pops on the screen – you just get the light coming out of the camera LED on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus.

If you want to bring this shortcut to your screen, here’s how to use a Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus as a flashlight:

  1. Press down on the Home screen with your finger;
  2. When Wallpapers, Widgets, and Home Screen Settings appear on the display, tap on Widgets;
  3. Browse until you find the Torch widget;
  4. Tap and hold it then drag the Torch to an open position on the Home screen.

To answer your question – how do I use the flashlight on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus – you just have to tap on the Torch widget from your screen. As suggested, with one tap you turn it on and with another tap, you turn it off.

Now that you master this technique, perhaps you’d like to try the launcher just as well. With the launcher, you can use the flashlight on Samsung Galaxy S8+ Plus smartphone. The process is very similar to the one we described above, the only difference being that some widgets could have slightly different locations.
