Apple To Discontinue Older Products

It only took one year for Apple to stop the production of the iPhone X by introducing their brand new iPhone devices. With the announcement that the new iPhone XR model will start at $749, it makes no sense for anyone to by the iPhone X model as it will have less features. Along with the iPhone X, the iPhone 6s and SE have also be taken out of production and off of Apple’s website.

While many rumors have stated that the sales of the iPhone X have been low, Apple earnings have actually showed that the device did very well in market. Tim Cook, Apple CEO said a couple months ago, “iPhone X surpassed our expectations and has been our top-selling iPhone every week since it shipped in November.” Keeping this in mind, with the new iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max, it would make a lot of sense for Apple to stop the production of the iPhone X product line. Also, while the iPhone 6s, SE, and X have all been stopped in the US market, these older versions can still be sold in the markets that are still developing such as India.

In Apple’s perspective, there is no logical reason to continue producing devices that are more expensive when they do not give out as much utility as the newer models that are coming out. The only reason a customer would want the iPhone X is because they can say they own the 10th anniversary version of the iPhone. Not only did the iPhone revolutionize the mobile industry, it changed how people went about their lives. The iPhone X was the first iPhone that introduced Face ID to unlock your device. Also, it introduced the feature of charging your device wirelessly and AirPods. Personally, the iPhone X was the the prefect phone such as them removing the headphone jack but now that it is being discontinued, I might keep my iPhone X for as long as I can knowing that they will no longer be made.
