Gmail Has Been Keeping Track Of What You Have Purchased

It is no surprise that companies such as Google have quietly and slowly keeping track of our data. The data that they are keeping track of is information such as our online purchase history that they have been able to see through your personal Gmail account that send purchase receipts that get sent to it. You are able to see that information through looking using a tool thats been activated in your private web for an undetermined amount of time.

According to a statement from Google, “To help you easily view and keep track of your purchases, bookings and subscriptions in one place, we’ve created a private destination that can only be seen by you,” and “You can delete this information at any time. We don’t use any information from your Gmail messages to serve you ads, and that includes the email receipts and confirmations shown on the Purchase page.” However, Google did not let us know for how long the tool has been active for.

This has become a problem in recent time as companies have had a difficult time being transparent with us about methods that they use to keep our information private. The tool that Google has been using does not completely get rid of our privacy but it is just another way of companies such as Google to keep track of our interactions and purchases for advertisers to find a better way to sell us products. The issue comes about when the tool is used so discreetly that people are unaware that they are being tracked and could lead to some privacy issues later down the road.

To be fair, Google is beginning to make improvements on their end by at least try to make their users aware of how they can delete their information, how it is being collected, and what is being collected.
